About the Designer
Deepali Kapadiya was born and brought up in India, graduated from SNDT University, Mumbai, with a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science and Apparel Design. She then went to further her knowledge and acquired a Diploma in Fashion Designing from JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. She currently resides in Toronto with her husband, two sons and a dog.
Dee has always been a very creative person. Drawing, painting, and art have always been her strength. From an early age, apart from playing basketball, she enjoyed designing and creating outfits for her friends and family. To Dee, designing is a means of expressing herself. She has always dreamed to be a designer. Dee gained experience working in India and Canada with brands like John Lewis London, Aritzia Women, Bootlegger Men, Warehouse One Women and Men, Pennington's, and George Women, to name a few.
Dee being from Mumbai had firsthand experienced the latest in fashion, strongly felt the absence of modern Indian aesthetics/silhouettes of fashion in Canada. She found it very difficult to find an outfit that pleased her aesthetics. That’s when she decided it was time to start her own label “Dee Kapadiya”.
